Page Solar Energy Business Development by Hanwha Grup Established Hanwha Solar 1 by aqcuiring Solarpun Holdings (Nasdaq Co.) in 2010 Acquired Germany’s Qcell and became No. 3 of the world (2012). Hanwha Qcell. Capacity in China 2.3GW, Germany 200MW and Malaysia 800MW. Plan to establish Hanwha Solar America. Plan for vertical integration of polysilicon-Ingot-Wafer-Solar Cell-Module-Solar Electric Production. 10,000 ton/Yr Polysilicone Plant at Yeosu. Building Solar Energy Plants in Hawaii ( 24 MW),China (150 MW), California (5 MW) and Ontario, Canada (42.5 MW). 8

Page Problems of Solar Energy Production Price erosion of polysilicon in 2013: (2009) $175/kg, (2010) $85/kg, (2011) $40/kg, (2012) $16/kg 3 Major producers: GCL of China 64,ooo to/yr OCI of Korea 42,000 ton/yr LDK China 18,000 ton/yr A JV of Hyundai Heavy Industries and KCC lowered production. OCI Plant at Gunsan running at 50%. Market is recovering: 2008 (276 MW) 2011 (78.8 MW) and 2014 (500 MW) 9
10
Page Polysilicon Ventures (2013) Other plants lowering production: KCC (Daejook), Woongjin Silicon (Sangju) Korea Siilcon with W267 billion investment by S-Oil went bankrupt. LG Chemicals withheld the plan to invest W500 billion at Yeosu. Investment required is about W400-W700 billion per 10,000 ton/yr production. 10
