My Background Graduated from Fallbrook High School a really long time ago Earned my BA from California State University San Marcos Earned my Masters in Education and teaching credential from University of Phoenix Taught elementary education 4 years Taught ASL at a private school for 2 years Last year I taught ASL at Great Oak High School for Mrs. Santone while she had her twins This will be my 4 th year teaching ASL and I am excited!

ASL Philosophy (Why it’s the best class in the world) Builds Vocabulary Students build Receptive and Expressive skills Deaf Culture Community History Students learn how to use other communication methods (sign, use gestures, drawings, writing, etc.) “Voices Off” environment during class

Presentations Video recording In front of the class Various Types Time in class Practice at home If not prepared, may result in a non-passing grade Being Prepared

Study Habits Teach friends and family! Practice in the mirror Contrary to what most people think, ASL does not come easy! It takes practice.

ASL Variety Show!! ASL students must participate in the show Buy tickets early!!! It will be sometime in April or May I will let you know as soon as I get confirmation on the date
