Status now We received expressions of membership from 6 institutes (Bucharest, Frascati, Glasgow, GSI, Juelich and Warsaw) We established communication tools: forum, mailing list, wiki (http://panda-wiki.gsi.de/cgi-bin/view/DCS/WebHome) We established contacts with: - GSI controls group (Holger Brand) and - FAIR accelerator controls division (Ralph Baer) We need to fill the list of detector subgroups liaisons (see table on wiki)

The DCS Is the cerebral cortex of the experiment First step is to adopt or design a consistent framework We must get more committed so please: - designate manpower (stating the field of expertise) - read the DCS wiki and add information to it - subscribe to the mailing list and forum - let us start establishing the requirements for the DCS - designate manpower (stating the field of expertise) - read the DCS wiki and add information to it - subscribe to the mailing list and forum - let us start establishing the requirements for the DCS

Many options There are many options out there: EPICS (Peter’s talk from last meeting) LabVIEW (Holger’s talk) MonALISA (my proposal) - January workshop in Glasgow PVSS/UNICOS (see Udo’s talk) - maybe the best choice if we can share knowledge and manpower And it would be best to decide on a framework by the end on 2008 There are many options out there: EPICS (Peter’s talk from last meeting) LabVIEW (Holger’s talk) MonALISA (my proposal) - January workshop in Glasgow PVSS/UNICOS (see Udo’s talk) - maybe the best choice if we can share knowledge and manpower And it would be best to decide on a framework by the end on 2008 Tests of LabVIEW in conjuction with MonALISA will be carried out in Glasgow next spring
