In britain there are many typical dishes which are very populare across the country. As well as the traditional English recipes, food from other contries such as India and China is also very popular even if the British like to adjust and adapt foreign food to suit their own personal taste. As a consequence they use the most unusual spices! Here are some of the nation’s favourite dishes.

This dish is very special; it is eaten on Sunday afternoons and consists of roast beef, sometimes lamb or roast chicken accompanied with assorted vegetables, themselves generally roasted or boiled and served with a gravy. Yorkshire Pudding is very common on sundays; it is not usually eaten as a dessert like other pudding but instead as part of the main course as a starter of meal. It is made from flour eggs and milk; the batter is baked in the oven. When the meal is over another kind of pudding with ice-cream is generally served as a dessert.

Chicken Tikka Masala is a westernised indian dish based on baked Chicken Chunks cooked in a curry sauce. The sauce usually includes tomato and either cream or coconut cream and various spices.

Typical meats for roasting are joints of beef, pork, lamb or a whole chicken. More rarely duck, turkey or game are eaten. Meat is eaten with different kinds of sauces.

England is very famous for its fish and chips and there are many restaurants and “chippies” that serve it. It is perhaps the most identifiable English dish. Fish is fried in flour batter while chips are traditionally served with salt and vinegar.
