FOR MORE INFORMATION or to receive our weekly bulletin, e-mail transitioncambridge@googlemail.com or visit our web-site at http://www.transitioncambridge.org We gratefully acknowledge grants received from: Thursday 30 October – Talk: 'The New Food Security Debate: Should the UK produce as much of its own food as possible?' by Prof. Tim Lang, Professor of Food Policy at City University, part of the Environment on the Edge lecture series. 5:15pm, Buckingham House Lecture Theatre, Murray Edwards College (formerly called Newhall), Huntingdon Road. Please e-mail directorate@unep- wcmc.org to reserve a place. HOW TO GET INVOLVED… There are lots of ways to get involved: you could organise a film showing in your street or local area, join a sub-group such as the food or education group, start your own sub-group e.g. on energy, housing, transport or tree-planting, write articles for local papers or for our web-site, offer talks or workshops as part of the ‘great reskilling’ (e.g. bicycle maintenance, looking after chickens, making jams and pickles) or whatever you’d like to offer! Transition Cambridge is part of Transition Towns, a network of like-minded communities across the UK and abroad that seek a community-based response to the challenges of peak oil and climate change. We want to create a buzz throughout the city, inspiring us all to apply our energies and talents to be less dependent on fossil fuels. By encouraging the use of local resources and skills we aim to build a prosperous and sustainable future together. NEXT EVENTS IN CAMBRIDGE Monday 27 October – Film: 'Crude Awakening' at 7:30 Friends Meeting House, Jesus Lane (film starts at 8).
