3 S ugar Industry -Sugar prices collapse as a result of the depression -Labor strikes occur across the Caribbean -Caused by high income inequality and the depression -Many strikes turn into deadly riots -Large numbers of women plan and participate in the strikes -Strikes continue to the beginning of WWII

4 L abor Movement -Strikes caused by the depression give rise to influential labor movement -Labor movements advocate better wages and working conditions -Movements also advocate independence -Decolonisation begins after WWII
