Chivalry in Improv What is Fun-to-Play- With?
2
What is Chivalry? "Chivalry is the belief and practice of knights in the middle ages and even today. Chivalry was a code of ethics upheld by noble landholders and/or knights who were influenced by Christianity. The chivalric knight was loyal, courteous, protective, and gentle and honorable to all, including enemies. Knights sought love and glory, but not selfish love and glory; love and glory for his lady and king first. " -- Ring of Chivalry

What is Chivalry in Improv? ZFun-to-Play With!!!!
4
Think about players you like to play with, and what makes these players fun-to-play with. You'd probably come up with things like: ZShe makes good offers Z ・ He accepts and builds upon my offers Z ・ She makes me look good Z ・ He makes me have fun ・
5
Now think about those players you don't like to play with. Why would that be? Reasons might be: ZShe likes to shine too much ・ ZHe screws up the story Z ・ He's not listening Z ・ She always does the same thing Z ・ He never lets go of his own ideas Z ・ She always overloads the scene Z ・ His offers are always absurd
6
If you look at the bad-things list, you'll see one major theme theme emerging: Zselfishness. This is the opposite of Chivalry
7
Chivalry in improv is: Z ・ Happily losing a mimed tug-o-war Z ・ Happily stepping out of a scene if you screw up (like in games where players are replaced when they make a mistake) Z ・ Happily making a 'mistake' on purpose if you've been in the game long enough
8
Chivalry in Improv is also: Z ・ Happily letting your status be changed by another player's tilt Z ・ Happily letting you be robbed (though probably not after you've been begging for mercy, offering money or sex, or screaming for help).
9
So basically … ZChivalry is Letting Go of Your Ego. ZImprov players should be Improv Knights, all in the service of the King of Fun, and Zour Knights should be prepared to die for our King.
