1
Graphing Speed of a Moving Object Follow the directions and graph the data.
2
Directions for labeling your graph. Label the graph with: Title y-axis(distance) x-axis(time) Create a Key if there is more than one line being graphed Title Distance (__) Time (__) Key: Baby Scott----- Baby Sarah___
3
Create a Scale. Title:Baby Race Distance (_m_) Time (_s_) 0 1 2 3 4 5 0.5 Use the data to determine the scale. Use the range of information to create equally spaced numbers. Use data chart on Pg. 25 1.0 1.5 2.0 2.5 3.0 3.5
4
Plot the points From the data using both Distance and Time. Draw a dot where the coordinates meet. Connect the dots as you go to prevent confusion if graphing more than one object Title:Baby Race Distance (_m_) Time (_s_) 0 1 2 3 4 5 0.5 2.0 1.0 1.5 2.5 3.0 3.5 Key: Baby Scott----- Baby Sarah___
5
Create the Line graph Use a straight edge to connect the dots Title:Baby Race Distance (_m_) Time (_s_) 0 1 2 3 4 5 0.5 2.0 1.0 1.5 2.5 3.0 3.5 Key: Baby Scott----- Baby Sarah___
6
Interpret your graph Answer questions on page 25 #4 1)Which baby moves at a constant speed? Scott moved at a constant speed because the slope of his line is STRAIGHT. 2) What is that baby’s speed? remember you need Speed=distance time 2.5/5=.5 m/s 3) Describe the speed of the other baby. Baby Sarah did not crawl at a constant speed. She stopped from 3-4 seconds. Her speed was 3.5/5=.7m/s
