The Problem : Fire danger is REAL and people get TRAPPED Each year, approximately 1 in every 250 homes in the United States will have a fire large enough to call the fire department. (Source: NFPA) A person has approximately 30 seconds to decide their escape route during a fire. Every family member must be able to escape from 2nd and 3rd story rooms, usually through an egress window. (Source: NFPA) Every year, fire accounts for more deaths and injuries than all natural disasters COMBINED. (Source: USFA)

Families Cannot Solely Rely on Smoke Alarms 50% reduction in fire fatalities since the introduction of smoke alarms into the home. 90% of all residences have smoke alarms today. Smoke alarms were present in 58% of fatal residential structure fires, but only operational in 37% of those fatal fires. That means that most often where smoke alarms are present in a fatal fire, the smoke alarm is nonfunctional due to dead or missing batteries. (Source: USFA)
