1. Support for, or condoning of violence against women Actions that downplay, trivialise, excuse, or justify violence against women – at both personal and public levels. Examples include: Victim blaming- “Did you see what she was wearing….she was asking for it.” “What was a 14 year girl doing out at 3 am?” “Why did you wind him up, you know he’s got a short temper.”

2. Men’s control of decision making and limits to women’s independence in public and private life Examples include- Visibility of women in leadership positions- politics, sport, business shapes how we see & value women Of 400 ASX listed companies, CEOs and chairs are more likely to be called Peter (26), than be female (23) The gender pay gap between men & women currently 18.2%
