About us... Founded in 1991- first acknowledged language school in the city of Rijeka Long experience and tradition in teaching adults Promoting lifelong learning Programmes verified by the Ministry of EducationRijeka, Croatia

About us... 250 students 18 staff members 8 classrooms (in two separate buildings) Estudiante (school paper) - Can be found in the archives of The National Library and The University Library

Methodology... interactive classes alternative methods (‘walk and talk’, film and music in classes, projects, games in class) promoting team work and communication in class

Agency for Mobility and EU Programmes... rewarded by the Agency for a contribution to raising communicative competence in foreign languages professional development courses contact seminars Countries we have visited: Turkey, Norway, Italy, England, Ireland, Germany, Canary Islands, Malta, Cyprus etc.

Partnerships, projects, in-service training... ‘An Interactive Language Adventure Across Europe’ (English language learners) ‘Oltre’ (Italian language learners) Learning and Teaching: ‘Interaction through Senses’ (in-service training) two in preparation

‘Oltre’ Evaluated as the third highest scored project in Europe Objectives: - People over 50 years of age learn Italian language - Using ICT technology such as Facebook and e-mail to do so - exchanging letters every seven days and error checking

L&T: Interaction through senses... ‘Dante’ is the first institution in Croatia to be the organizer and host of an in-service training objectives of the course: - encourage teachers to develop students’ competencies in a natural way - introduce senses in the teaching process

L&T: Interaction through senses... - encourage teachers and students to rely on senses when learning, teaching and developing skills reaching objectives through theoretical background and workshops over 30 people applied for our course this summer
