2 About Mrs. Chamblee *Graduated from GACS *Received a degree in Interdisciplinary Education from Lipscomb University *Received a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction *4 th year at GACS *Before coming to GACS I taught second grade in Uganda, Africa.

3 Homework  Please check your child’s agenda in their take home folder.  Homework will be differentiated.  Study for DLR (Tue.) and Bible (Fri,) Assessments  Reading, Spelling, Math

4 Word Study  Word cards each week  Words explore sound, pattern, and meaning relationships  Currently learning procedures and activities  Words will become more difficult  List of spelling activities to do at home is on website under 2 nd grade library

5 Accelerated Reading  Second grade goal-15 pts.  Tests taken independently  Best times 7:50 or after school in the library  Please fill out the ready to test forms on books that have been read at home. Extra copies are available on my website.

6 Accelerated Math  Supplemental program  Individualized pace  Tops reports sent home

9 Absences  Child should bring a note from home explaining their absence  You may pick up child’s work while they are out if you give me notice before 12:00.  Work can also be sent home the day the child returns to school.  Please check the handbook for the official policy.

10 Snack  Every day we have a snack.  Please make sure the snack is healthy and not messy.  Please send your child to school with a water bottle.

11 Birthdays  Student birthdays are recognized in class.  You may arrange for a special treat to be served with the ladies in the cafeteria or you may provide your own treat to be served at lunch time.  Please mail all birthday invitations.  Balloons are not allowed in the classroom

12 Book Orders  Sent home in folders and due the Friday of that week  Never feel obligated  Make checks out to individual book companies.

13 Communication  The best way to reach me is by e-mail. achamblee@greateratlantachristian.org A newsletter will be sent home every Friday by email with information regarding the next week.  Send a note with your child.  During the school day please leave a message with the secretary

14  Psalm 127:3 “Children are a gift from the Lord. They are a reward from him.” *As your child’s teacher I pledge to be open, loving, and encouraging. With God’s help, I will be the best teacher I can be for your child.
