1 18 dams breached

2 In a move to reduce prison overcrowding and provide relief to inmates given harsh sentences in drug cases, the federal Bureau of Prisons will grant early release to about 6,000 inmates beginning later this month. The mass release is the largest in the Bureau of Prisons history and the first wave of what could be tens of thousands of early releases. The mass release was triggered by the U.S. Sentencing Commission, which lowered maximum sentences for drug offenders last year and made the change retroactive. This sentencing reform focuses on low-level, non-violent drug offenders. Under the commission's directive, federal judges are required to carefully consider public safety in deciding whether to reduce an inmate's sentence. About one-third of the 6,000 inmates slated for release by November 1 are non-citizens so they will be turned over to U.S. Immigration Custom Enforcement officials for deportation proceedings. The reason for this decision comes from supporters who say that there is no evidence to suggest that the public is anymore safe with these individuals in prison as well as bipartisan agreement that prisons are overwhelmed and overcrowded.

3 In Other News American Airlines pilot Michael Johnston, 57, was flying a plane between Phoenix and Boston when he fell ill somewhere enroute. The co-pilot landed the jet safely. Johnston was later pronounced dead. An autopsy and preliminary toxicology tests "showed that the death was the result of natural diseases." McDonald's is now serving breakfast all day. Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton each lead their party's respective primary race in Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania, according to new polls from Quinnipiac University.
