The Heads of Delegation meeting prior to the opening ceremony 2 November settled on key appointments for WRC-15

WRC-15 Background The following were appointed at the opening ceremony: Chairman of the Conference: Mr Festus Yusufu Narai Daudu (Nigeria) Vice-Chairmen of the Conference: Mr A. Jamieson (New Zealand) Mr Y. Al-Bulushi (Oman) Mr D. Obam (Kenya) Mrs D. Tomimura (Brazil) Mr A. Kühn (Germany) Mr N. Nikiforov (Russian Federation) Committee 1: (Steering) (Composed of the Chairman and Vice-Chairmen of the Conference and of the Chairmen and Vice-Chairmen of the Committees.) Committee 2: (Credentials) Chairman:Mr N. Meaney (Australia) Committee 3: (Budget Control) Chairman:Mr A. Kadirov (Uzbekistan) Committee 4: (Specified agenda items) Chairman:Mr M. WRC-15 Background So what are these committees >Committee 1 – steering committee – we know how to sort this out >Committee 2 – credentials committee – let me in I’m paid up >Committee 3 – budget committee – it cost how much??? >Committee 4 – agenda items - smartphones, ships, planes – with and without a pilot, same for cars >Committee 5 – agendas items - satellites - big, small, out of control, leap seconds >Committee 6 – more/general agenda items - things we don’t understand and can’t find a place for – oh and the next agenda let’s do it all again in 2019 >Committee 7 – editorial committee - is it ESOMPs or ESIMs, shall or should, just how do you spell the chairman’s name.

WRC-15 Background >Australian delegations consisting of members of the ACMA PG WRC-15 and ARSGs participated in many ITU ‑ R meetings through the duration of the study cycle >Australia developed proposals and/or views on all WRC-15 agenda items and promoted these to the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT) Preparatory Group for WRC-15 (APG15) >Australian delegations led by the ACMA participated in the following APG15 meetings through the WRC-15 study cycle: >APG15-1 – 10-1 September 2012, Da Nang, Vietnam >APG15-2 – 1-5 July 2013, Bangkok, Thailand >APG15-3 – 9-13 June, Brisbane, Australia >APG15-4 – 9-14 February 2015, Bangkok, Thailand >APG15-5 – 27 July - 1 August 2015, Seoul, Republic of Korea
