3 SIMILE  A comparison using “like” or “as” –His personality was as sweet as pie

4 ALLUSION  A reference to a character or idea from another, well-known, work of literature –My mom is a real Scrooge.

5 IRONY  When what is said and what is meant are opposites –“I LOVE your new dress! It looks great!” [said sarcastically]  When what happens in the story is the opposite of what you expect –In The Wizard of Oz, Dorothy finds out at the end that she has had the ability to go home the whole time
