Scale drawings are enlarged or reduced drawings that are similar to an actual object or place. – The ratio of a distance in the drawing to the corresponding actual distance is the scale of the drawing! Scale = size of drawing___ OR Scale measurement_ size of actual object Actual measurement

Example #1 The height of the symbol is 1.5 inches. The actual symbol will be 96 inches tall once it is created into a statue in my town. If the width of the symbol is 1 inch, how wide will the actual statue be?

Example #2 A model car measures 2cm:1ft of the actual car. Knowing this ratio, set up a proportion to figure out the actual length of the car if the model measured 36cm.

7D LAND -Use the cm side of the ruler to measure the distance between each town -Use the scale to determine the real distance between each town on the map -Answer the questions! Compare with the person next to you.
