Chapter 1 Review

Find the next two terms. 1.2,8,32,128,… 2.99,93,87,81,… 3.13,20,27,34,…

Find a counter example for each given conjecture. 1.The sum of two numbers is always even. 2.All of the students in our class are female. 3.The quotient of two numbers is always a decimal.

Examples: 1.Name the two planes. 2.Name all points in the vertical plane. 3.Name all points in the horizontal plane. 1.Name the two points not included in the planes. A point is represent by a small dot and is named by a capital letter. A plane can be named in two different ways, you can use a single capitalized letter, or buy using three noncollinear points.

Name each line two different ways. To name a line you can use two capital letters with the symbol above the letters, or with a single lower case letter.

1.Name the front plane. 2.Name the top plane. 3.What is the intersection of plane ADF and plane CGF? 4.What is the intersection of plane ABC and plane HGC.

1.Identify a line segment 2.Identify a line. 3.Identify a ray. Examples: Name each figure.

Examples: 1.Name lines that are parallel. 2.Name lines that are skew. 3.Name planes that are parallel.

Examples: Find the distance between the given points. 1.AD 2.CD 3.AE 4.BF 5.BE

Examples: 1.

Angles An angle is formed by two rays with the same end point. Naming an angle:

1. Find m<CAB Examples: 2. Find x

The Distance Formula Given any two points, (x 1, y 1 ) and (x 2, y 2 ) the distance between them is… Step Method 1.Line up the points 2.Subtract 3.Square 4.Add 5.Square root

Examples: Find the distance between the given points. 1.(5, 2) and (-4, -1) 2.(-4, -5) and (5, 8)

The Midpoint Formula The coordinates of the midpoint for the points (x 1, y 1 ) and (x 2, y 2 ) are found by… Step Method 1.Line up the points 2.Add 3.Divide by 2

Examples: Find the midpoint of the given points 1.(3, 5) and (7, -9) 2.(5,1) and (-4, 8)

Finding the endpoint Given one endpoint and the midpoint of a segment find the second endpoint. 1. Endpoint: (-3,-2) and midpoint: (3,4)

Perimeter, Circumference, and Area Goal:Find the perimeter, circumference and area of figures.
