1 Amazing Rainforest By Annastasia Nichols & Emily Jauregui

2 What is a rain forest? A rain forest is a tropical land that rains every day. You will most likely find a rain forest around the equator. It is always around 80 degrees.

3 Location of Rain Forests The rain forest are located in these continents: South America, North America, Africa, Asia, and Australia. There are only a little bit of rain forest in Australia. 6% of the world is covered by rain forests!

4 Emergent Layer The Emergent Layer is the highest layer in the Rain Forest. Lots of animals live there like the harpy eagle, different types of parrots, monkeys, sloth, and many butterflies. This layer only has the tops of the tallest trees.

5 Canopy Layer The canopy layer is the second highest layer of the rain forest. There are different kinds of animals in the rain forest such as butterflies, monkeys, parrots, toucans, frogs and many more animals.

6 Understory Layer The understory layer is third highest layer in the rain forest. The animals that live there like darkness. Many animals live there, lots of parrots, tree porcupines, snakes, butterflies, jaguars, macaws, geckos, monkeys and many more animals.

7 Forest Floor The forest floor is the lowest layer of the whole rain forest. There are all kinds of animals like the armidillo, meat eating army ants, many butterflies, parrots, tree porcupines, red eyed tree frogs, ocelots, jaguars, grasshoppers, and many more.

8 Deforestation The rain forest is disappearing because of cities, towns, people cutting down trees for furniture, paper, floors, mining and many more problems. Why?

9 People of the Rain Forest There are many people that live in the rain forest. There are thousands of tribes in the rain forest such as the Yanomami and the Huli of New Guinea. Many of these people lived in the rain forest for hundred or even thousands of years.

10 Frogs Frogs live in the canopy layer. There are many different types of frogs in the rain forest. Frogs have long, powerful back legs to jump through the air. A frog can jump more than 20 times the length of its body! Frogs are very interesting animals.
