5. 3rd Person Singular The 3rd person is the él/ella/usted form of the verb. Use it to talk about he/she/you (formal). Use the verb ending a.

7. He/She, continued She does not talk with Miguel. Ella no habla con Miguel. Marisol is looking for an eraser. Marisol busca una goma.

8. You - formal Remember you are talking to an adult. –You (for.) use the computer a lot. –Ud. usa la computadora mucho. –You (for.) wear black shoes. –Ud. lleva zapatos negros.

9. The Personal a When the direct object of sentence is a person, you must put a before it. This is called the personal a. It only exists in Spanish. It is purely grammatical. It has no translation in English.

10. Ejemplos I am looking for Julio. Yo busco a Julio. Find the verb and ask What? or Who? – that will give you the direct object. If it is a who then use the personal a before the direct object.
