I wish I had thought of that. Titus 1:12-13 One of them, a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.” 13 This testimony is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith, Luke 16:8 So the master commended the unjust steward because he had dealt shrewdly. For the sons of this world are more shrewd in their generation than the sons of light.

“Live Like You Were Dying” Song released in August of 2004 by Tim McGraw. Was number 1 for 7 weeks. Makes some very good, biblically correct points.

The Scriptures teach us to live like we are dying. 2 Kings 20:1 In those days Hezekiah was sick and near death. And Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, went to him and said to him, “Thus says the L ORD : ‘Set your house in order, for you shall die, and not live.’” We’re all terminal! 2 Corinthians 4:16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.

The Scriptures teach us to live like we are dying. Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, James 4:13-14, 17; cf. Luke 12:20

What would we do? Repent of sins – ALL OF THEM.
8
Repent of ALL of our sins. Colossians 3:5-6 Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 6 Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, 2 Peter 3:10-11 V. 12, 14f
9
Repent of ALL of our sins. Rich young ruler lacked ONE thing. Mark 10:17-22 If we want assurance and security, take care of that one thing. Ever feel that alienation? Isaiah 59:1-2
10
What would we do? Repent of sins – ALL OF THEM. Let go of petty differences and pursue reconciliation.
11
Let go of petty differences. Genesis 13:9 Is not the whole land before you? Please separate from me. If you take the left, then I will go to the right; or, if you go to the right, then I will go to the left.” Matthew 5:21-24 Matthew 18:21-22; Luke 17:3-4
12
What would we do? Repent of sins – ALL OF THEM. Let go of petty differences and pursue reconciliation. Be repulsed by worldly things.

Proverbs 4:23 Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life. 1 John 2:15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. Romans 12:9 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. Matthew 18:6 “Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
14
What would we do? Repent of sins – ALL OF THEM. Let go of petty differences and pursue reconciliation. Be repulsed by worldly things. See temporal pursuits for how insignificant they are. Be prepared and have joy and confidence.
15
Be prepared. Matthew 24:42 Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. Philippians 1:21-22 For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. 22 But if I live on in the flesh, this will mean fruit from my labor; yet what I shall choose I cannot tell. Revelation 22:20 He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.” Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!
16
Temporal things are insignificant. Luke 12:15 And He said to them, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.” Matthew 16:26 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? Colossians 3:2-4 If we put things in perspective, we’ll find time For pray, worship, hospitality, checking on a struggling brother, holding that Bible study, etc…
