Why do Christians get involved in the community? ‘Love your neighbour as yourself’ – show agape love and compassion to everyone. The Parable of the Sheep and the Goats - ‘whatever you did for the least of these brothers and sisters of mine you did for me.’

The Church Community What does the word ‘church’ mean? The church is a community of Christians, locally, nationally and worldwide.

Street Pastors https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1iSRi2lPAc How did they start? The movement began in London in 2003 with 18 people going out onto the streets of Brixton. It has now spread to over 270 towns and cities and there are also international groups. What do they do? They work in partnership with the Police, local council and other official bodies They wear a blue reflective ‘Street Pastor’ uniform They talk to people in pubs, shops and on the streets They listen to problems, offer advice and guidance and give help and support

School Pastors A sister organisation, called School Pastors, was set up in 2011 with the aim of reducing anti-social behaviour, illegal drug use and bullying.
