Feedback From HSSE Mgr Name of the Person: RICKY ALTONAGA Learning’s from Role Plays on "Individual" Big Risk Question OU/MU/Region: PHILIPPINESNo of Participants Site staff articulating BRQ is the key Challenge in doing a BRQ discussion. Once surpassed, a lot of insights come out. Need to be patient for them to understand. Retailers also struggle in their BRQ as they are still fixed with historical experience. Though correct, need to continuously engage them on their risks. Some delaers on the other hand are way ahead of the cultural change having safety as a top priority. Shell Staff felt really fulfilled during engagement activities, gets them proud touching site staff sentiments Shell Staff75 Retailers & their Staff3229 Contractors & their Staff1061 Family Members82 Customers50 School Students TOTAL No of PARTICIPANTS4497 Learning’s from discussion on "Site's" Biggest Risk & Updation of Retailer HSSE plan A lot of realization here on what their risks are and these are not tracked via NMPI eg drive offs, misspills, suspicious individuals. The discussion made site staff and retailers realize what to do and where to focus in terms of NMPI. HSSE plan/Board provided the structure to track, monitor and progress on the sites Big risk’s. Appreciated by all (contractors and Retailers) Feedback on Local Optional Activity A lot of extra activities occurred, retailers took the advantage of the day to try out new ways in promoting safety. Videos, role plays and calling out actual emergency services helped them simulate incidents. Local services also were given the opportunity to share their knowledge. At the end of the day, everyone had fun and taking time for safety as a theme was very effective in making our partners and retailers coordinate with each other and learn from Your Action Point to Sustain Excitement Post Safety Day Check on each team on safety progress, any issues with the board. Agree on how to progress. Come up with post safety day activity. Photo contest similar to CH. Involve retailers and contractors

Personal Big Risks Discussions Many have difficulty articulating Big Risk Safety day was able to provide clarity and support in making them understand Regular BRQ discussion will make staff share more big risks were focused on health and the travel from home to work vv ability to articulate BRQ comes from how conscious they already are of their environment, both on and off site - BRQ reflection Contractors answering BRQ Role Plays Locators Personal Sharing Retailers doing BRQ Health is the greatest risk
5
Site Big Risks Discussions Discussion on GZ Video Discussion on Site Risk Agreement on Actions Live HSSE Plan DRILL as an action Robbery is the biggest risk -the most common biggest risk for PH are as follows: 1. Robbery 2. People loitering 3. Moving Vehicles 4. Miss-fills 5. Fire -Common challenges of the discussion was on site staff articulating in front of a Shell Staff. More frequent engagement is necessary specially for retailer and staff
6
Leaders Involvement and Take aways Commitment on safety should come from the top of the organization for it to spread across NDM taking lead in ensuring partners are aligned District Managers: We and our retailers need to do something different Rewarding good sharing Safety Day is time to know your Biggest Risks Global Staff contribute to Safety Day: “My biggest risk is Air Travel”
7
Other Leadership Team Take aways Regular ERP drills are more effective than just having memos & posters. Don’t think of safety as a requirement of Shell but treat it as a habit, a culture worth learning and practicing Vigilance and HSSE consciousness are required to prevent any untoward incidents, but what remains to be a challenge is how to drill it down to all the site customers concerned. We need to actively “market” our HSSE policies on site to remind all customers that the value of life is priceless.

Retail Staff Take Aways Revisit their HSSE plan every visit. Retailer to do TnT to their staff regularly. Safety Day activities exceeded my expectations! All staff, I “ambush- interviewed” are very knowledgeable of the biggest risk questions and are able to articulate their own personal biggest risk. Discussion encourages site to think more creatively on what to do to mitigate those risks During non-TMSR site visits, ask at least 1 FC crew on BRQ and what he is doing to avoid it Viewing the GZ video, JCI contractor suggested to have a holder attached to the tool ( like a telephone wire) then attached to the wrist of the contractor to ensure that if ever the tool falls, it will not fall on the ground
10
Retail Staff Take Aways 7. Retailers appreciate the acknowledgment that medical ERP with regards to HSSE plan is not a “one fits all” program and must be adjusted based on the local conditions. 8. public/customers were engaged in the GOAL ZERO JOURNEY, making some of them more aware of their risks at the station & elsewhere, they appreciated SHELL’s big emphasis on safety 9. the challenge for me is to ensure that behavior on the identifying risks on site are consistently done on their day to day operation, and not just stop after safety day. Secondly, I also have to ensure that the basics are still in place 10. The role play is a good way to set the tone for more frequent discussions of BRQs on a daily basis.
