3 The APCA is an institution at Kangwon National University, designed to specialize in various leadership training programs for individuals in Korea and abroad. Through close cooperation with other organizations such as KOICA(Korea International Cooperation) and UNDP (the United Nations Development Program), APCA is making headway with training programs on economic development, rural development, and sustainable development. The principle goal of APCA is to play a leading role in providing and training programs for prospectus leaders from developing countries, to assist in poverty reduction and to contribute in sustainable development. 7 Country Report  Home Country / University Report (Presentation by the participants )  Group Discussion Each participant is requested to prepare and bring her/his reports in a ppt format on her/his home country or university in a computer usb. Alternatively, please send your file to the APCA (Asia and the Pacific Cooperation Academy) Training Manager via e-mail to apca@kangwon.ac.kr The report should be written in English. Each presentation will last 10- 15minutes. The report should be about general information on the country and university that the participants come from.

8 Korean Language Lesson Korean is the official Language of Korea, both South and North. It is also one of the two official languages in the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture in People’s Republic of China. There are about 78 million Korean speakers worldwide. In the 15 th century, a national writing system was commissioned by Sejong the Great, the system being currently called Hangul

9 Special Lectures - Introduction to Korean Society and Culture - North America and Middle East - Millennium Development Goals - Literature

10 Team Presentation Participants will be divided into several groups and each group will be assigned with a topic of Millennium Development Goals of the United Nations. Topics would include poverty, global warming, gender equity, globalization, etc. During the course of the workshop, each group will prepare presentation after in-depth group discussions. A presentation Contest will be held on the last day and the best team will be awarded.

11 Culture Experience During the program, participants will have chances to experience Korean society, lifestyle, and traditional and modern culture Taekwondo (Korean Martial art and national sport of South Korea) Samulnori (Korean traditional percussion quartet)

12 Culture Experience Making Hanji (Traditional Korean paper handmade from mulberry trees) Learning K-pop (Learning the newest K-pop dance)

13 Culture Experience Home Visiting (Visit a Korean home to experience the Korean daily life and food)

14 Excursion & Fieldtrip Seoul Tour On the day of excursion to Seoul, participants will visit several places like Namdaemun Market, Gyeongbok palace, Korean traditional home, N-Seoul Tower and Insa-dong (a charming narrow street lined with antique stores and art galleries) (http://sca.seoul.go.kr/english/)

15 Excursion & Fieldtrip YEOSU EXPO The Yeosu Expo will provide participants with an opportunity to understand the international community’s perception of the function and value of the ocean and coast, share knowledge on the proper use of the ocean and coast and recognize the need for cooperation in the marine sector. It will also serve as a venue to learn about the achievements of and future models for the marine sector and offer a valuable chance to promote state-of-the-art marine science and technology and marine industries.
