How It Is Produced Water flows down the penstock. This water then pushes a turbine. Which turns a generator. This turning of the Generator converts Mechanical Energy to electric energy.

GPE and Energy Flow 1.The water has GPE 2.The water enters the penstock and begins to have kinetic energy 3.This kinetic energy is transformed into mechanical energy when the turbine is pushed 4.The turbine then spins the generator which changes the mechanical energy into electric energy. Reverse Operation Pumps to fill high reservoir during off-peak hours. Then it is able to flow to lower reservoir pushing turbine during peak hours. Allows for more power generation during peak electrical demand.
