1 Fowler’s Mission Helping Hands~Feeding the Hungry~Warming Hearts HINDS COMMUNITY COLLEGE STUDENT NURSE ORGANIZATION COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT 2015-2016

2 Background: Fowler’s Mission A Student Nurse Organization (SNO) community service project to provide comfort and nourishment to needy individuals in urban Jackson, MS and surrounding communities Activities: provide care packages (consisting of gloves, knit caps, socks and hand warmers) and nourishment (sandwiches and water/coffee) to homeless members of the community Motto: Helping Hands, Feeding the Hungry, Warming Hearts

3 Origination (How it came to be…) How one little boy can inspired others to act… Fowler noticed a homeless man under a bridge and thought he looked cold and hungry subsequently gathering offerings for him. This story inspired a small group to plan a mission to provide care packages during cold weather and food for nourishment to the homeless in urban Jackson. And now here we are!

4 And then it rained! (plans changed for the better) Once the day was scheduled, it rained and plans had to be postponed. This was a blessing in disguise as the delay actually allowed more opportunities for people to get on board. Donations seemed to rain down on us at that point.
