In December, 1941, after Pearl Harbor, President Roosevelt ordered the U.S. military to begin a secret project for the potential development of atomic weapons. This project, would be code named the Manhattan Project and would be eventually headed by physicist Robert Oppenheimer

In 1942, scientist achieved a chain of U-239 (form of Uranium). This led also to the development of bombs using plutonium. After much work, the project had produced 4 bombs One of the bombs, a uranium bomb, was code named “little boy” Little Boy
