1. Chief of state: Ceremonial head of government, symbol of the nation 2. Chief executive: Boss, most powerful office in the world 3. Chief administrator: Director of the whole executive branch, administration has 2.7 million employees Chief diplomat: Deals with foreign affairs

Commander in chief: controls armed forces Chief legislature: architect of public policies, sets up major items for congress to consider Chief of party: Head of major political party Chief citizen: work for and respect public interest

The Cabinet includes the Vice President and the heads of 15 executive departments — the Secretaries of Agriculture, Commerce, Defense, Education, Energy, Health and Human Services, Homeland Security, Housing and Urban Development, Interior, Labor, State, Transportation, Treasury, and Veterans Affairs, as well as the Attorney General.
