Starter for 5! 1. What does the term salvation mean? To be saved from sin. 2.Give two features of Holy Communion in the Orthodox Church. The priest comes through the Royal Doors to chant the Gospel, the priest receives bread and wine baked by members of the congregation, behind closed the Royal Doors the priest says the words Jesus said at the Last Supper, the bread is divided into four, the priest comes through the Royal Doors to distribute the consecrated bread together on a spoon. 3.Why is Lourdes visited as a place of pilgrimage? To bathe in the holy water for healing, to pray, to remember the vision of Bernadette, to recite the rosary with other believers 4.Which aim of punishment is to put criminals off committing crime? Deterrence 5. Give two peaceful methods used by Martin Luther King. Peaceful protests (The March on Washington, speeches (I have a dream), organising bus boycotts (Rosa Parks)

Why is it a duty of Christians to help the poor? Parable of the Sheep and the Goats ‘Love your neighbour as yourself’ ‘It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter heaven.’

Christian Aid Now that we have thought about Christian teachings on helping the poor, we need to know how Christians put this teaching into action.

Christian Aid Campaign What do I have to do? You are going to create a Christian Aid campaign. Your campaign will need to include the information you have learnt about Christian Aid from lesson AND from your own research. How can I present my work? You need to be as creative as possible. Whatever method you choose, the information needs to be clear. What do I need to include: You need to include Christian quotes and teachings that influence them and long and short term ways that Christian Aid help those in need.

Evaluate You have found out a number of different ways that Christian Aid try to help those in need. Giving money Educating people in rich countries (MEDC) Praying Campaigning Development projects (e.g. Building schools, proving clean water) You are going to rank these methods from the most to the least effective. Make sure you are able to explain your choices.
