Active Awards

About the Programme Active Awards is a small grants programme primarily aimed at grassroots community based sport. The programme aims to prioritise investment in sports clubs, community groups and governing bodies of sport, especially those based in areas of greatest need that will deliver increased sports participation.

Eligibility Community and Voluntary Groups Sport Clubs Charities Parent Teacher Associations Governing Bodies of Sport Applicants can only hold 1 live award at any given time. People living in Northern Ireland must benefit from your project.

Funding Limits and Key Dates Funding limits Eligible groups can apply for grants from £1,000 - £10,000. Key dates The current round of funding closes for applications at 12 noon Monday 18 July 2016. All projects must be completed by 31 March 2017.

Increasing participation in sport and physical recreation in sport especially among underrepresented groups: Women and girls People with a disability People living in areas of greatest need In particular, Sport Northern Ireland welcomes applications from projects which will tackle health inequalities and improve health and wellbeing. Applications are welcomed from projects which are based in areas of greatest need or which will benefit areas of greatest need. Programme Priorities

Eligible costs Sport specific coaching courses CPD courses/training e.g. Disability Awareness, Sport Leadership, Club Development. Coaching fees Project specific venue hire Project specific travel within Northern Ireland Project specific equipment Equipment hire to allow you to run your project Please Note that under this programme Sport Northern Ireland will not fund any building works.

Criteria 1: Project (50%) What will you do? When will you do it? Where will you do it? How will you do it? Who will benefit? Criteria 2: Need (30%) Have you consulted with potential participants? How does your project fit strategically with relevant stakeholders? Is there evidence of social need? Criteria 3: Sustainability (20%) Does the project have development plans in place to sustain the project? e.g. Financial Sustainability Does the project have coaching in place to help sustain increased participation? Criteria
