3 3 The “why”… behind creating the rd-alliance webplatform was twofold:  Working Platform – to provide a set of tools to facilitate collaboration & exchange  Communication & promotion channel – to inform, communicate activities, highlight outputs& build synergies  Discover what can you do on it and how the website can support you in your RDA related work!

4 4 The “how” comes with a story, an evolution & a huge learning experience … Continuous effort – implement, manage & structure to answer the technical & usability requirements of a working platform and the content & “packaging” requirements of a communication channel – considering the various audiences – who are the people using the web platform Useful tools Informative content Clear workflow

The vision & mission  RDA Vision: Researchers and innovators openly sharing data across technologies, disciplines, and countries to address the grand challenges of society.  RDA Mission: The Research Data Alliance (RDA) builds the social and technical bridges that enable open sharing of data.

6 6 Built to support the RDA Guiding Principles Openness – Consensus – Balance – Community-driven – Non-profit  Information tool: Communicating with members & the larger audience  Collaboration tool & Member (user) generated content - To ease the work of the members & the collaboration within the groups  Encourage information sharing and generate discussion and debate through the Requests for community review & comments  Facilitate adoption of the RDA Outputs by publishing the group results & promoting uptake  Engage new community members  Updates News/Events/Announcements  Bring practice, research and policy closer together

There are several way in which you can play a part in RDA:  Register to the website and become a member of the RDA community  Join the discussion and subscribe to the RDA Working and Interest Groups  Follow the proceedings of the Bi-annual Plenaries & answer the Open Calls & Contribute  Apply as an Early Career Researcher and Scientist working on Data to attend RDA Plenary meetings
