2.  School expects the same kinds of behavior that a boss will: › Be Prepared. › Be trustworthy self-starter. › Treat others respectfully. › Be flexible and open-minded. › Follow safety rules.

3. 1. Follow directions the first time they are given. 2. Be in your seat and ready to work when class begins, remain seated unless told to do otherwise. 3. Bring appropriate materials to class. Ex. books, paper pencils, etc. 4. Raise hand and wait to be recognized before speaking. 5. Keep hands, feet, objects, and inappropriate comments to yourself.

5.  Fire Drill/Emergency – › Exit through entry door of the art room › Exit double doors at front of the building › Cross over black top into grassy area › Stay in your group  Tornado Drill/Emergency – › Exit through SEEK room doorway › Enter 8 th grade hallway beyond metal fire doors  Intruder Drill/Emergency – › Enter storage closet at the back of classroom › Listen to instructions › No talking  Alarms During Non-Class Times – › Report to your homebase teacher

6.  Gather you folder and sketchbook from its designated area and have a seat.  Patiently wait for project instructions. › you may draw in your sketchbook while you wait, or continue working on your project from the previous day.

7.  Make sure that your first and last name are written on the back of all projects, along with your class code.  Some projects will require your signature on the front. In this case, do not write your code on the front of your artwork.  Failure to properly identify your work will result in a reduction of your grade for it.

8.  Bring your personal materials to class each day, they are your responsibility. › Do not leave valuable items in your storage space.  Return all items used in the classroom to their proper place. › Treat the classroom materials with respect.  Art Folder, Sketchbook, and Pencil are to be kept in the classroom in your storage area every day.

9.  Close the Glue Bottle before returning. › Never use scissors or other objects to open a bottle. › Return bottles upright in proper area.

10.  Scissors are for cutting materials being used for a project. › Do not cut inappropriate items or use carelessly. › If you are unable to use scissors properly, you will not be allowed to use them.

11.  Rulers are for measuring and drawing straight lines. › Inappropriate handling of rulers will cause damage to them. › Do not bend rulers or bang on the table or other objects. › Grid Rulers are very useful in drawing, but very fragile. Only use them when needed.

12.  Stencils can be used for many projects.  They can be fragile, handle them carefully and return to proper area. › French Curves › Letters › Protractors and Triangles › Soft Plastic or Flexible Stencils  Do not use markers to directly trace on the stencils.

13.  Paper is always available, but don’t be wasteful. › Copy paper can be used to plan projects, but use sketchbook when possible. › Be sure to recycle any discarded paper.

14.  Markers, Colored Pencils, & Crayons are in individual containers for use at each table. › Do not be greedy with supplies. › Return supplies to their proper storage area.  Proper technique will ensure good results. › Markers will only bleed out ink properly at a slow pace. › Colored Pencils can create rich color, can create different values of color, and can be blended with other colors. › Patients will always create better work than trying to rush through the project.

15.  In order to enjoy this privilege, you must follow some basic rules: › You must use earbuds to listen to music. › You may only listen to music while working (not during instruction time, videos, or discussion). › You will not play games on your devices.  1 st = warning  2 nd = detention  3 rd = confiscation of device

16.  Daily Vocab/Observation Drawings will be a large part of your overall grade. › Vocab/Observation drawing may be graded every week. › Projects may receive grades every 2-3 weeks.  Make your projects interesting for you. › Don’t choose the easy way out; challenge yourself. › Don’t be afraid of mistakes; sometimes they make your art interesting. (you don’t know if you don’t try)  Your grades are based on effort you put into it, not just artistic ability. › Don’t compare your abilities to others around you. › Utilize others, objects, and surroundings to spark ideas.

17.  Put it back where you got it. › if you don’t know where it goes, ask someone.  Continue to work until signaled to clean up. › No excuses for wasting time.  Clean your area properly. › wipe your table and make sure the floor is clean around you.  Sponges, paper towels, and soap are located at the sink area for use.

18.  You will be given a warning about how much time is left. › Slow down, find an ending point, and come to a stop. › Do not keep working and try to finish at the end. Students become careless and make mistakes when rushing to finish; there is nothing wrong with waiting to finish the next day. › If you are behind on the project deadline, talk to me about working on the project during other times throughout the day.  When the room is in order, stools are pushed in, supplies are put away, and everyone is seated; I will dismiss the classroom.

19.  The more I trust the class, the more I will let you do in the classroom. › If I can’t trust you with a pencil, I’m not going to give you a knife.  Your behavior shall not interfere with another student’s ability to complete their work. › Many people cannot concentrate with loud talking.  Choose your words carefully. › Inappropriate language is unacceptable.

20.  Do your job!  Challenge yourself to be productive.  You are here; use your time wisely.
