8 Getting the Right Goals: Self-check questions To test alignment of goals, ask: – “If we achieve that goal, is it highly likely that our students/team/school will achieve this student learning goal?” “How is my work** this year helping the school meet our turnaround goals?” ** (work with your kids, with your team, and to develop your own practice) To test commitment to goals, ask: – “This goal is going to help us decide ‘should we focus on this or focus on that?’ – “Does this feel like a goal we can live out?
