ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS The Lutheran Home Association Healthsense, Inc. George Demiris, PhD Kathleen Buckwalter, PhD Bonnie Westra, PhD
3
SPECIFIC AIMS Provide an overview of a proposed research study: An evaluation of eNeighbor® for family caregivers of persons with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia (ADRD)
4
SPECIFIC AIMS OF PROPOSAL To determine if use of the remote sensor technology increases ADRD caregiver self-efficacy and sense of competence, decreases caregiver distress, and delays or reduces negative health transitions and service utilization among persons with ADRD over an 18-month period.
5
SPECIFIC AIMS OF PROPOSAL To “embed” evaluation components During the randomized controlled evaluation through the administration of open-ended survey items to all ADRD caregivers in the eNeighbor® treatment condition every 6 months to examine the utility of the remote health monitoring technology; and At the conclusion of the 18-month evaluation by purposively sampling 20 ADRD caregivers who reported the greatest rate of decrease in subjective stress during the use of eNeighbor® and 20 ADRD caregivers who reported the greatest rate of increase in subjective stress to participate in semi-structured interviews. Will help to determine how and why the health monitoring intervention is effective
