2 Guidelines  One project per quarter  Different project each quarter  One quarter MUST be book report frame  Each project worth 30 points, all use same rubric  Minimum number of pages for book is 100  Counts on log when finished  Due date will be posted, may hand in early  May do a second project for a different book for extra credit (same due date as first project)

4 Index Card Summary  Use 5x8 index card  Front  Title, author, your name  2 paragraph summary (character, setting, problem, solution, ending)  Tell how story ends  Back  2 paragraph review  Include opinion, recommendation, questions, thoughts

6 Book Report Frame  Fill in the blank style book report  Rough draft and final version will be on teacher page  REQUIRED

7 Book Reviews Option 1  Small sheet of paper  Includes: title, author, brief summary (4-5 sentences), rating, and reason for rating  You may only use the space provided Option 2  Fill-in-the blank worksheet  Use complete sentences

10 Letter  Address to me  Paragraph 1  Write a short summary of your book. Discuss the setting, characters, and plot in approximately six sentences.  Paragraph 2  Write a short review of book (compare/contrast to another book, make a recommendation, explain how the title fits the book, explain why you did/didn’t like it, etc.)  Use appropriate closing

12 Oral Presentation  Prepare a 2-3 minute presentation to share in front of the class.  Include: title, author, summary, and opinion of book.  Summary should include character, setting, problem, solution, ending.  Speak loudly and clearly. Use good. eye contact  You may use notecards.

13 Storyboard  Tell your story in 6-8 steps.  Include title and author.  Each step should have at least 4 sentences and a colored picture (drawing ability will not affect your grade).  Make sure you include information about character, setting, problem, solution, and ending.

15 Flipbook  Tell your story in 5 steps.  Include title and author.  Each step should have at least 4 sentences and a colored picture (drawing ability will not affect your grade).  Make sure you include information about character, setting, problem, solution, and ending.

17 Beginning-Middle-End  Tell your story in 3 parts: beginning, middle, end.  Each part should contain a 2 paragraph summary that is written in paragraph form using a minimum of 5 complete sentences for each paragraph.  Summary should be descriptive, contain specific details from the text, and retell the entire story using only essential details (character, setting, problem, solution OR who, what, when, where, why, how).  Each part should contain a colored illustration that matches the text.

19 4 Scenes  Share your four favorite scenes from your book. Make sure they are in chronological order.  Each scene should contain a colored illustration and a 3-4 sentence caption for each illustration.  Captions should be written in complete sentences and should be descriptive.

21 Cube  Using a cube template, give the following information about your book:  Title, author, your name  Character  Setting  Problem  Solution  Ending  Except for title side, write in complete sentence form. Be descriptive.  You may add color/pictures as long as it does not interfere with the text.  Assemble you cube CAREFULLY.

Once you have turned in your quarterly project, you may do any of the following for any remaining books you read that quarter:  Do a second project for extra credit (by same due date)  Complete six questions on back board/teacher page  Online Reflection (on teacher page)  ALL BOOKS READ COUNT ON LOG REGARDLESS OF HOW YOU RESPOND TO THEM
