4. Reasoning in Algebra & Geometry How are algebraic properties useful in geometry? Yesterday we talked about Properties of Equality. Today we will add one more, the Distributive Property. We will also explore the Properties of Congruence.

5. Properties of Equality Addition Property: If a=b, then a+c=b+c. Subtraction Property: If a=b, then a-c=b-c. Multiplication Property: If a=b, then a(c) = b(c) Division Property: If a=b, and c Ø = 0, then a/c = b/c Substitution Property: If a=b, then b can be substituted for a in any equation.
