2 Activity Today we are going to look at questions relating to love and marriage. As a group you will discuss them first. Next, as a class we will discuss them. As we go along write your answers on a sheet of paper with all your group members names on it so I can give you credit. Please make each answer at least a sentence long.

3 Question 1 How would you define a happy marriage?

4 Question 2 Do you think there is high acceptance today of people who remain single throughout adult life?

5 Question 3 What do you think makes a marriage happy or unhappy?

6 Question 4 Look at the chart on page 194 (9-1). How do your views of marriage relate to the three areas in the chart?  You all in the same group could have different opinions

7 Question 5 Do you think that someone could know you as well as you know yourself? And how or why?

8 Question 6 How is a relationship impacted when one partner insists on having his or her way most of the time? How does this affect the communication, decision making and problem solving? Feelings and self- esteem?

9 Question 7 Why do you think the divorce rate of teen marriages is higher than the overall divorce rate?

10 Question 8 How might a marriage be with someone how has very different values, goals, parenting skills, education and work be?

11 Question 9 Are interracial couples accepted equally with those of the same race? Why?

12 Question 10 What characterizes good communication in a marriage?

13 Question 11 What impact do you think the opinions of family and friends have on a marriage relationship?

14 Question 12 What are some reasons people give to choosing to marry? Lets rate these reasons as good or poor reasons.

15 Question 13 At holidays and birthdays how will you as a married couple decide where to celebrate? And how to make it fair? How would you resolve issues?

16 Question 14 What factors would cause you to break of an engagement? Would you be brave enough too, even if a lot of the wedding was already planned?

17 Question 15 What do you think the minimum age for marriage should be and why?

18 Question 16 What comes to mind when you think of adjustment to marriage?

19 Question 17 What are characteristics of a low quality relationship and of a high quality relationship?

20 Question 18 How difficult do you think it is for people to change habits? What habits would you find intolerable in a mate?

21 Question 19 What can people do to remind themselves and to show their significant other appreciation?

22 Question 20 How do you think flexibility in role sharing can strengthen a marriage?

23 Question 21 What do you expect parents roles to be in your life after you are married?

24 Question 22 In our community what activities are available for couple to do together?

25 Question 23 Would you be willing to go to a marriage counselor if needed? Why or why not?
