©The Management Practice - 2003 Step #1: Create the Household DNA Set up your desired “Household Balance”: Score the current value (importance) to you and your household of each “blue” element in this diagram. Green Orage Red Value codes (V) are scored as follows. Green = Low Importance Orage = Medium Importance Red = High Importance. (Add any new components to blank boxes).

©The Management Practice - 2003 Step #2: Assess Household Risks Assess Your Household Risk: Green Orage Red Risk (R) codes are scored as follows. Green = Low Risk Orage= Medium Risk Red = High Risk

©The Management Practice - 2003 Step #3: my Actions Planner Step #3 Discuss your current Household DNA and Plan your future actions and direction Transfer “Current value” assessment from DNA map. Transfer Risk of each element (Green = Low Risk, Red = High Risk). First focus on “Double Reds” and brainstorm various plans to address each area. Priority order is Top priority = Red/Red 2 nd priority = Red/Yellow 3 rd priority = Yellow/Red 4 th priority = Yellow/Yellow

©The Management Practice - 2003 Step #4: My Actions Management Review Step #4 Consolidate and review all new and old Actions Discuss and write down all new ACTIONS that should be taken for all risk-rated items. Discuss each suggested action and decide on the most important (maximum of five in each area). Highlight the top priority actions in each area. Rate current status at left of actions (Red=Poor, Yellow, or Green=Good). Review after 6 months (marking status on right side of actions).

©The Management Practice - 2003 Step #6 : My Expense Tracker Step #6 Finding out where the Money goes Place the myExpense Tracker on the kitchen fridge using the fridge magnet supplied. Record all household expenses as they occur. Categorise all household expenses in their appropriate area row. As soon as any row is filled (nine items), then add up all rows and transfer the totals to myExpense Summary sheet. Continue with a new sheet on the fridge.

©The Management Practice - 2003 Step #8.1: My Cash Manager Step #8.1 Summarise all Income and Expenses for 3-months and calculate Net Cash Flow Add up summary sheets and transfer totals to myCashflow Manager. Subtract total expenses for total income to get Net Cash Flow. Highlight all expense items that seem higher than they should be for the 3-month period.

Discuss all highlighted items from myCashflow Manager and write down suggested ACTIONS that could be taken. Discuss each suggested action and decide on the most important (maximum of five). Highlight the priority actions and transfer them to myActions Management and Review sheet under “Financial”

©The Management Practice - 2003 Step #9.1: My Assets Manager Step #9.1 Assess replacement value of all household goods. Estimate the replacement value of all household contents. Total value and print out for notification to your Insurance company. Repeat valuation each year.

Discuss each suggested action and decide on the most important (maximum of five). Highlight the priority actions and transfer them to myActions Management and Review sheet under “Physical”
