2 Abstract A 3-year project conducted by three French teams and funded by the National Agency for Research (ANR) To evaluate through demographic methods the coverage and quality of the data base To propose guidelines for good practice to potential users of the database CENSUS

Coverage and quality of census data To assess the completeness and accuracy of censuses and samples through demographic analysis of population data provided by the national institutes of statistics and IECM Special attention to continuity of information in each country and to international comparability among the 7 countries Under ODE responsibility CENSUS

Operational value of the database A case study to test the possibilities of the database : the prevalence and factors of multi- generational co-residence of adults A combination of individual, household and geographical data requesting maximum flexibility to face the multilevel challenge A topic of social relevance in S and E Europe, France acting as a N-W benchmark Under Ined-UR13 responsibility CENSUS

7 3. Training users Precautions for use Complementary and sequential training courses at beginners and advanced levels ‘Hands on’ sessions Inserted in the French-speaking Doctoral School in Demography and proposed to the European Doctoral School in Demography Under IEDUB responsibility CENSUS
