Suppose that you wish to travel by car to your favorite vacation spot at an average speed of 55 miles per hour. How many hours will it take you to travel 440 miles? How might you solve this problem?

The speed of the car represents the rate. The hours traveled represent the time. What relationship exists between the distance, rate, and time of the car? distance = rate x time
