What is MyDispense? Dispensing with “training wheels”

What is MyDispense? Purpose designed, educational dispensing program Designed and developed by Monash University, Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Supports students to develop and practice dispensing skills

Educational environment Web-based pharmacy simulation software MyDispense can be programmed to accommodate the level of the student learner The software is used in tutorial classes in conjunction with tutorial notes and a tutor explaining the theory to support the dispensing process

Education Learning through exploration Fundamentals of good dispensing practice are taught and practiced Provides a simulated dispensing environment No built in prompts

MyDispense database currently includes: 39,000 items dispensed since March 2011 1,130 active products 1,176 student accounts 406 patients

Format of MyDispense Tutorials The exercises are patient-centred scenarios. Authentic modern dispensary scenarios are represented in the exercises. Exercises - are designed to support the specific tutorial outcomes The software is used in tutorial classes in conjunction with tutorial notes and a tutor explaining the theory to support the dispensing process
