First Impressions First impressions are HUGE when applying for a job. What was your first impression of some of your close friends?

Resume Employers want to find the best person for the job, so they look at Resumes. A resume describes your education, skills, work experience, activities, and interests. It introduces you to your future employers.

Format – or arrangement Two kinds of Resumes Chronological resumes presents information in order of time. (Present First) Skills resumes highlights skills and accomplishments Look on page 128 and 129 for examples.

Personal Fact Sheet Gathering information about yourself is an important part of your job search. Personal Fact sheet – contains basic information about you and your education, experience, qualifications, and skills. 1) Make a list 2) Develop a Resume

Cover Letters A resume should always have a cover letter with it! A Cover letter is a one-page letter telling who you are and why you’re sending a resume. It is the FIRST thing a future employer will see.

Personal Career Portfolio Personal Career Portfolio – a collection of information about you! Work samples, project, interests, goals, and accomplishment.

Job Application Many businesses will have you fill out a Job application. A Job application is a form that asks questions about your skills, work experience, education, and interests. Be prepared to fill out a job application when you visit a business to apply for a position!

References On a job application be ready to supply references! References – are people who will recommend you to an employer. Choose references carefully!

Letter of Recommendation Letter of Recommendation is a letter in support of you from a reference. Provides insight into your background, skills, work ethic, and character.
