In Other Words… Step 1 As a group… Come to a consensus on what you think each phrase means. Take the new language of the Preamble that you have decided on and craft a modern day version. Write your group’s version on chart paper and place it on the wall in your designated area.

In Other Words… Step 2 Individually… After each group has finished, we will begin our “Gallery Walk”. Take a portion of sticky notes with you to suggest or praise the other groups. (They’re on your group’s folder.) Try the phrases: “I think…”, “I like…”, and “I wonder…”

In Other Words… Step 3 As a group… After we have finished the “Gallery Walk”, go back to your group’s chart. Review the comments and make any changes that your group thinks are necessary. Designate one group member to share their finished product with the class.

Homework For each purpose/function of government listed in the Preamble, give a modern day example of how the current United States government is fulfilling its described role.
