Making Dialogues Making dialogues Work in pairs and create the dialogues in the following situations.

Situation 1: You are an overseas Chinese student who is studying for Master degree in London, England. Your partner is an English. Since you came to London, you have noticed that most of English people refuse to choose those food labeled as GM food, which are always sold at a lower price in supermarket. You don’t know why and so you have a dialogue with your English partner. Making Dialogues

You try to mention the benefits of GM food, but s/he tries to explain the potential harms that GM food may do on human beings. (Please refer to the useful expressions in Activity 1 of this Part IV, the useful expressions and information on page 105) Making Dialogues

Situation 2: You’ve got a piece of news that an Italian specialist is on the brink of cloning the first human baby. This doctor claimed that one of his patients is eight weeks pregnant with a cloned baby. You are strongly against this experiment and insist that there should be a world-wide ban on the practice because if this experiment is successful, the world will be in a mess. But your partner holds a different point of view. Making Dialogues

S/he thinks that cloning of human beings is not so frightening as you said. S/he tries to explain the possible benefits that cloning of human being may bring to the world. Therefore an argument happens between you two. (Please refer to the useful expressions in Activity 1 of this Part IV, the useful expressions and information on page 106) Making Dialogues

Situation 3: You are A, and come back to your dormitory, only to find that your roommate B looks sad and is talking to sb. on the phone. After s/he puts down the telephone, you ask him/er why s/he is so sad. B explains that his childhood good friend has just got a serious HBV in his routine medical examination and needs to have further treatment in your city. B is also busy with looking for a good hospital for his friend. Making Dialogues

You try to comfort your roommate by telling him that HBV is not so frightful, some special hospitals can treat this disease; in addition, the discovery of genetic code give human beings a hope that one day in the near future the HBV may be cured under medical research. (Please refer to the useful expressions in Activity 1 of this Part IV, the useful expressions and information on page 107 ) Making Dialogues
