RECCE The area where I am recording my video and audio is located in an attic in my home. It is spacious with brick walls and wooden support beams but no windows or doors, just a ladder hole in a corner of the floor. The area place in the attic where I will be recording is in a corner of the attic where all my equipment is located as well as being positioned directly under good lighting. A potential problem that could occur is that the area is quite empty and could cause the audio to echo when recording from my side. Another potential problem could be that the attic is located on a main road and you can sometimes hear loud traffic which would interfere with the audio. Access to the area is very easy as it is just a ladder going up into it. The ladder is not visible and will not be in the shot when recording. There are no other ways into the attic. The attic I will be recording in has no other facilities, but as this will be done in my own home, it will have all the normal facilities such as bathrooms and a kitchen A potential light problem is if the lighting above is not enough or causes too many shadows. This will however be avoided as I will be also using a light attachment on my camera to even out the lighting. A potential sound problem is the audio might echo when recording. For the video recording this will be avoided as I will be using a lapel microphone for clearer audio. For the podcast audio however I will have to test out the audio levels before recording to limit the amount of echo to a minimum. Where camera will be aimed, recording area Where camera will be placed

AUDIO SAMPLE FOR INTERVIEW This is a audio sample of what the sound quality is like unedited for the audio interview piece.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS User Involvement: The individual using the equipment will be myself. I will be handling the camera and its accessories such as tripod, lighting attachments and lenses. I will also be operating the audio equipment such as the lapel microphones and my podcast Pro-Sound microphone for the interview. The editing software (adobe audition and premiere) will also be used by myself. Statement of Requirements: I will need a computer with working editing software to edit my content of both video and audio. I will be needing this working fully as it is a tight schedule and from previous experience from software not working, it delays finalization. Planning: I will be recording my content of both audio and video in the week of 23/05/2016 – 25/05/2016 then will be editing my content from the 26/05/2016 – 30/05/2016. Expectations: I expect to be completed with my content and it being edited by the end of 30/05/2016 at the latest. I vision for the audio content to sound clear while the video to be clear both visually and audio wise. I aim to have the them both on a print interactive webpage by the 13/06/2016 as that will give me plenty of time to double check everything and gain feedback.

RESEARCH SUMMARIZE The reason I chose to do this for my final major project is because I am interested in how television is changing from the format that it originally started with and how fast it is changing. I am also interested in how people are reacting and adapting to this change as well as what they prefer and why. I personally watched a fair amount of television growing up, however now comparing my childhood to current children, most of them seem to prefer more accessible on demand services such as Netflix and YouTube then have television as a filler or in the background. The theory of my project is to weigh up both television and online streaming and see what they are, what their positives and flaws are as well as why people are switching platforms. I seek to achieve this by looking into the numbers of not only the audiences demographics, but also the numbers of popularity and growth over the years in comparison to them both. My work is connected and related to the current medium of television; It connects to the media from the news to normal entertainment. The television system has many pathways that lead to different things that are all important and relevant, this project reflects on how those important pathways are changing and updating with the times as well as the new generation of audience that are growing up in an online connected world. Similar media products such as YouTube has helped me shape my project. Watching factual videos I believe that explaining this change in media is best served through an explanation of the current changes being online and in a similar fashion to what YouTube content is. Because of this, instead of doing a typical news style interview which you would see on television, I am giving the same facts and delivering the same information in its newest format to show the change. The audio interview is influenced by the new generation of radio (BBC 1) which also targets the same audience as online media is compared to what radio shows were like several years ago. I am doing this style of interview because it connects to my targeted audience a lot better than an older style which might bore them and lose their interest. The print interactive media piece reflects on this also by being in a interactive web page format instead of a written print style format such as news papers of magazines. From some practices and experimentations with all my mediums, once getting used to the style and rhythm of the video and audio pieces, I found it myself more engaging towards myself with the audiences as if I was talking to them in person. I tried different camera angles for the video, different lighting and different framings such as zooming in and out. A problem I faced was trying to get the frame of the video with nothing distracting the watcher in the background, for it all to look natural. This problem was solved with better framing, patience and trial and error which has led up to a better frame which helped for a better video.
