6. Reasons to Consider Accounting At Burke High School  Learn higher level thinking skills – Accounting terminology and activities force people to use a higher level of thinking. These analytical thinking skills are essential in college and make up many of the ACT and SAT questions students may encounter.  Honors option available – Students enrolling in Accounting 1-2 may opt into Burke High’s weighted honors grading scale by taking part in special projects throughout each semester.  Prepare for college accounting – Many college majors, including non-business majors, such as Pre- med, Pre-law, and Sports Management/Wellness require at least two semesters of college accounting.  Metropolitan Community College Articulation Agreements – Successful completion of Accounting 1-2 and/or Accounting 3-4 can be articulated into free, completed credits through the Metro system.  Career Exploration – You will be offered many great opportunities to explore accounting and business related careers that relate directly and indirectly with accounting.  Explore Business Technology – Through the use of accounting software and Microsoft Excel applications, students will explore actual software applications of the business world – a tremendous experience!
