The basic idea was to relief the rich from paying so many taxes that they could invest more money and create new jobs and they actually gave a 25% tax cut.

Keynesian policies Keynesian policies were created by John Maynard Keynes and said that as an economy slowed down the government could speed up the economy by putting in money which creates demand. Created to stop more great depression and recessions when or before they start. Reagan and his administration practiced Keynesian policies despite wanting to shrink the government.

Social security Social Security is an income security program, designed primarily to provide financial support for senior citizens. It began as part of the New Deal At the time of Reagan’s presidency, the Social Security System was becoming financially unsound which introduced “third rail” of US Politics
11
“third rail” The “Third Rail” is a metaphor used in politics when a topic is so charged with importance to a significant part of the electorate that an elected official addressing the topic is taking a huge political risk, possibly leading to being voted out of office. In 1983, a significant problem facing the United States during the Reagan years was the Social Security System and was becoming financially unsound and was known as the “third rail”.
12
Noneconomic Issues The noneconomic issues that Reagan had to face weren’t directly dealing with money. It was more of a social issue such as labor relations. Most labor unions had opposed his election for fear that Reagan as president would work to enable business owners and enfeeble unions. Early in his presidency, 12,000 member of PATCO, the air traffic controllers union took action illegally by going on strike. Reagan fired those on strike and filled in the positions with those who didn’t and sent a message that his administration would be less friendly and encouraged corporations to negotiate from a position of power.
13
Regulations Reagan felt that another way to reduce the government was to reduce regulations. He felt that the government too, should be less involved in how people lived and worked. Reagan managed to deregulate rules regarding corporate mergers, effectively lessening government anti-monopoly efforts.

Montreal Protocol is an international treaty designed to protect the ozone layer by phasing out the production of numerous substances that are responsible for ozone depletion. In Ronald Reagan’s second term a question about the environment came up he was sceptical about spending a lot of money on the environment with the respect to the ozone layer Ronald reagan became an environmentalist hero. The US became the prime mover behind the Montreal Protocol, which required the phasing out of ozone-depleting chemicals.
