Proof of Identity and Age Under 21- ◦state of identity by parents ◦Birth certificate ◦Social security card

Vision and Written Tests At least 20/40 vision in at least one eye with or without corrective lenses Written test- examines your knowledge of the rules of the road, safe driving techniques, road signs, and the laws about alcohol and drugs while driving (14/20)

Learner Permit Every time you practice driving you must be accompanied by a licensed driver who is at least 21 years old Depending on your age your permit is valid for 3-5 years

Preparing for the road test 50 hours of supervised practice with 15 hours after sunset

Safe Driving Course Requirement Driver Education (MV-285) 5 Hour Course (MV-278)

Schedule- Road Test Have certificate before you schedule www.dmv.ny.gov/roadtest

Taking the road test You will need: ◦Permit ◦Supervised Hours Log (mv-262) ◦Driver Education form (mv-285) Your vehicle ◦Must be properly registered, inspected, insured ◦Supervising driver who is at least 21 years old and holds a license valid for operating the vehicle

After you get your license You must continue to show caution and obey the traffic laws You are also responsible for knowing when your license expires and renewing it on time

Upgrade to a D License If you are 17 and have a DJ you are eligible if you: ◦Bring your Junior License and mv-285 (proof of Driver Education) to any DMV office.
