3. Do Genetically Modified Foods Need Stricter Controls? 1.In your own words, explain the major issues about GM foods. Critics- Might cause dangerous, unexpected effects on people or the environment. Supporters- Provide additional nutrients to diets and reduce the need for pesticides/fertilizer. 2. What are the risks and benefits of GM plants? Risks- unexpected effects, allergic reactions, kill beneficial insects, antibiotic resistant bacteria, produce weeds that don’t respond to herbicides. Benefits- provide essential vitamins, higher yields could prevent hunger in parts of the world, eliminate pesticide use, fuel, plastic, source of medicine. 3. Are stricter regulations needed?
