Muscular Strength Muscular Strength Muscular Endurance Flexibility Body Composition

1. Cardiovascular Activity The ability of the heart, lungs and vascular system to deliver oxygen-rich blood to working muscles during sustained physical activity.

2. Muscular Strength The amount of force a muscle or muscle group can exert against a heavy resistance.

3. Muscular Endurance The ability of a muscle or muscle group to repeat a movement many times or to hold a particular position for an extended period of time.

4. Flexibility The ability of a joint to move through its full range of motion, from a flexed to an extended position.

5. Body Composition The amount of fat in the body compared to the amount of lean mass (muscle, bones etc.).

Physical Activity Prescription (6x6) NNow that you know what the 5 components of physical fitness are, you'll be better able to develop an effective fitness program. MMust haves: 1. (left column) 5 components of physical activity 2. (top row) MTWRF 3. (per day) Time periods equaling up to 60 minutes 4. Progression per day/week Ex. Monday (15 sit ups) Friday (35 sit ups) 5. Daily Life activities 2-3 times a week

Journal Requirements Pre work out Journal – How do you currently feel? How will your new “PAP” help you to improve? Week 1, 2, 3, 4– How do you feel? Why? How can you improve? What should you have/have not done? Summarization – Since you have done your own work out for the past month answer the previous questions and also compare the pre- work out to the week 4 journal.
