2
What happens during condensation Condensation happens when water vapor forms into water droplets
3
Does earth only experience condensation in clouds? No because condensation can happen any time evaporation forms water vapor causing it to rise and form water droplets on anything closed together Examples: water bottles, clouds
4
Inherited traits vs. learned behaviors Inherited traits are characteristics that you are born with. Usually from one of your relatives. Ex: blue eyes, brown hair, long nose, short arms, big ears Learned behaviors are behaviors that you learn from the environment or the people around you. Ex: walk, eat, run, laugh, dance, sing
5
Define the following give 2 examples Producer: an organism that uses nutrients to produce its own food ex: plant, plankton Consumer: an organism that eats other animals to get energy ex: lion, tiger Decomposer: an organism that breaks down dead organisms to get energy ex: mushroom, worm Herbivores: organism that only eats plants to get energy Carnivores: organisms that only eat meat to get energy ex: tiger, lion Omnivores: organisms that eat both plants and animals to get energy ex: bear, human Scavenger: an organism that doesn’t hunt for food but eats leftovers from a dead animal Niche: job/role an organism has in its environment ex: bee collecting honey, plants producing carbon dioxide
6
Herbivore teeth vs. carnivore teeth Herbivores have flat teeth for chewing plants like grass Carnivores have sharp teeth for tearing meat/prey up to be eaten
7
Food chains in order #1 sun, seaweed, seal, polar bear Seaweed is a producer Seal is consumer, prey, predator Polar bear is a consumer, predator #2 sun, grass, rabbit, hawk, vulture Grass is a producer Rabbit is a consumer, prey Hawk is a consumer, predator, prey Vulture is a consumer, scavenger
8
List 4 different possibilities that would happen if 1 of your organisms died If there was no grass #1- rabbits would not have any food to eat #2- foxes would have less rabbits for food #3- vultures would have less foxes to eat #4- most animals in chain would have less population
9
Job of each plant part Seed- to disperse and make new flowers Flower- attract bees to pollenate Leaf- produce food Stem- bring water to the leafs, hold plant up Root- collect water and hold the flower in the ground
10
Do all plants need the same amount of sunlight, water and nutrients? No because some plants need different amounts of sunlight and water depending on their environment. If a plant lives in a dry desert it doesn’t have a lot of water so it doesn’t require as much as others
11
3 ways seeds mainly travel #1- wind picking them up and dropping them some where else. Mostly for only light seeds #2- animals carrying them on their fur and dropping them some where else. Mostly for prickly seeds #3- animals eat fruit with seeds and deposit them some where else. Mostly for seeds in fruit
12
4 possibilities of how plant population would decrease #1- more rabbits were born so they ate a lot of the plants #2- pollution #3-not enough sunlight #4- not enough space to grow
13
3 adaptations to an animal that lives in the desert #1- nocturnal so they hunt when it is cooler #2-special eyes to see at night when hunting #3-colors on their body help them dissipate heat
14
Cactus adaptations and niche Adaptations: thorns to keep predators from eating it Niche: make its own food
15
Deciduous forest Sunlight- depends on what season. Summer has a lot of sunlight Animals- dear, raccoon, bear, fox Plants- oaks, maples, a lot of different layers of plants Extra info- moderate temperature, moderate amount of rain fall
16
Tundra -Animals- polar bears, arctic fox, penguins -Adaptations- some have padded claws so they don’t slip on ice, Lots of fur to stay warm.
